Mooroolbark Grammar is accredited to deliver the Australian Curriculum and the program runs across Prep and Year 6.

During primary school, there is a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy, as well as specialist and enrichment programs. We utilise a range of educational programs within our school to ensure we deliver a curriculum that actively engages children in investigations, play and explicit teaching.

As students move through primary school at MG they are taught and encouraged to take on more leadership roles. Our leadership programs focus on developing the organisational skills, communication skills, responsibility for themselves and others, collaboration, debating and public speaking.

Applied Scholastics International, founded by educators 50 years ago, provides materials and training that places the tools of learning and teaching in the hands of students and teachers. These tools assist the student’s ability to understand and apply what is being studied in the classroom.

The basic fact is that students fail to learn because no one actually taught them how to learn — that is, how to identify the barriers to learning and how to successfully overcome those barriers.

What are these barriers to learning? The answer is found in Study Technology. Developed by American author and educator L. Ron Hubbard, Study Technology is not just another method of study. It allows a student to learn any subject successfully, empowering them to achieve the goals they have set in life for what they want to be and what they want to do.

Study Technology consists of tools and techniques that teachers also use to improve the learning rates of students. These same tools and techniques can be used by students themselves to improve their ability to understand and to use the materials they read and study. And it remains vital for continued learning as one leaves school and faces the challenges of life.

This breakthrough methodology, Study Technology, is learned by all Mooroolbark Grammar students and is a cornerstone of the school’s successful approach to education.

As Mr Hubbard stated, “Today’s children will become tomorrow’s civilization.”
