Mooroolbark Grammar is a community that is passionate about providing exceptional education to all our students. Our primary objective is to equip our students with the skills they need to succeed in life, while also making learning an enjoyable and engaging experience.

Our school was established in 1990 by a group of parents who were concerned about the style of education available to their children. These parents had experienced the benefits of the Study Technology and educational philosophy of L. Ron Hubbard, an author, educator, and humanitarian, and wanted their own children to receive the same benefits; thus, the Applied Scholastics school was born.

Being an Applied Scholastic school, means that we are dedicated to using the principles of Applied Scholastics in all aspects of our educational program. Our teachers are trained in the use of Applied Scholastics and are committed to helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

Applied scholastics is an educational approach that focuses on practical application of knowledge in real-life situations. It is based on the principles of L. Ron Hubbard’s Study Technology, which emphasises the importance of understanding how one learns in order to be able to learn effectively.

Applied scholastics involves teaching students how to identify and overcome barriers to learning, such as lack of understanding of basic concepts or confusion caused by unfamiliar terminology. Students are taught how to break down complex topics into simpler components, which they can then master before moving on to more advanced material.

In addition to traditional classroom instruction, our school uses hands-on activities and real-world experiences to help students apply what they learn. For example, students may participate in excursions or projects that require them to use the knowledge they have gained in the classroom.

Overall, Applied Scholastics is a student-centred approach to education that focuses on developing practical skills and problem-solving abilities. It empowers students to take an active role in their own learning and to apply what they learn to real-life situations, which can lead to greater success both in and out of the classroom.

At Mooroolbark Grammar, we are committed to providing a positive, friendly environment where students are treated with respect, and where good behaviour is actively encouraged. We believe that the non-religious moral code outlined in “The Way to Happiness” by L. Ron Hubbard provides practical and sensible guidelines for maintaining a harmonious atmosphere.

While we are guided by the educational philosophy of L. Ron Hubbard through Applied Scholastics, Mooroolbark Grammar School is a non-religious institution. We do not promote any particular religion or belief system, and our curriculum does not include any religious content.

Our focus is on providing high-quality education that prepares our students for success in life. We believe that our teaching methods, which emphasises how we teach rather than what we teach, are the key to achieving this goal. By prioritising the quality of education, we are committed to ensuring that our students receive the best possible start in life.
